About KsN WEB DESIGN

A bit of history...Artist's rendition of me thinking.

The creation of this business turns out to be a pretty good story. It's no Lord Of The Rings, but still pretty good.

In 1984, not long out of high school, I started working at a company called Codex in Mansfield, MA.  The plan was to work there for a little while until I figured out what I really wanted to do. A little while became 17 years (and Codex became Motorola). I spent a good part of that time as a Buyer, and when I left in 2001 I was an IT Business Systems Analyst. Actually I was laid off like many others around that time. In fact, Motorola ended up with only about 100 people in Mansfield before they moved to Marlboro in 2003.

Over the years I developed a knack for systems and software, and when the internet started to become popular I wanted to know how it all worked. I started by publishing a site for a band I was in, using a free service that provided very basic design templates.  That wasn't enough for me, so I started looking at web publishing software.  Around the same time, a friend of mine with his own business agreed to let me design his website, so I purchased Microsoft's FrontPage, which I continue to use.

When I got laid off, I did not go right into web design, but took a whole different direction and opened a retail gourmet food business.  That business was The Village Cheese Shoppe in Foxboro, MA (unfortunately, the shop did not make it and is now out of business). Of course the plan from the start was to have me design and develop the web site, which I did.  Before I started though, I did a lot of research to figure out what visitors really wanted in a web site, particularly one for a small business.

The KsN difference...    I do not know these people.

I discovered that what most visitors want from a small business site is just very basic information.  Address, phone number, directions, hours, and of course the details about what the business offers.

The main purpose of a business site should not be to showcase the web designer.  A web site is an opportunity to present a business in a unique medium while reflecting its personality and preserving the vision of its owner(s).  That's the way I approached my site for The Village Cheese Shoppe.  Once it was up and running, customers started asking who created it.  Once they found out, several people requested my services for their sites.  Once I reached about a half-dozen clients, I figured I should go into business!

So that's what I do.  I'll work with you to preserve your vision and get your business online just the way you want it.  Please visit the Basic design or E-Commerce pages for details.  And of course you're wondering just how much all of this will cost you, right?  Well that's very clearly explained on my Rates page.
